  2. Techno Techno Logic

Back in UK AV broadcast history

All we had as kids was monochrome TV

Single channel tune-in to the BBC

  Later upgrade that enabled ITV

'Wireless' just meant 'radio' back in the day

  AM/FM disco bopping forty-five airplay

All change with the future looming Y2K

Music volume pumped up twenty four hours every day

  Years later...

  We watched JVC

  We had double D

  Then came DVD

  To our LCD

  And today

  We've got DAB

  Also DAT

  Watching VOD

  We can PPV

  Not to mention Terabyte Technology

Tablet, i-Pod, Mobile Phone and home PC

Image upload and download in full HD

  Microchip updates facilitate 3D

  Slower mode megapix

  Overload of pop chart mix

  Throw enough until it sticks

Sell your soul to get your kicks

  Slow motion replay

  No notion DJ

Do you hear what we say?

  Auction it on ebaY!

  Internet connection

  Virus infection

  Maintenance inspection

  PC resurrection

  3. Low Profile

In the words of the prophets...

  "Stealing the limelight is wrong"

  "Patience is a virtue" and

  "Discipline is paramount"

But of course there are limits

  Gazing into space all day

Can reduce a man to tears

  Fly in the ointment follows

  (Sublime to ridiculous)...

"My head is in pieces now..."

  Not a heroic moment!

  4. Shine On

  Now appearing, at a situation

  close to heart.

  An endearing celebration

  is about to start.

  It's that time of year;

a happy birthday, hope your dreams

  come true.

  In the rough, or crazy,

  one thing lasts forever Diamond,

  You...!

  5. A Quick One

  Formerly blessed with beauty,

now caught in that snare called 'age'.

  'Bingo wings' unbalance her

when she takes him for a ride,

  giving him what he deserves...

A bit of slap and tickle!

She gasps... once in a blue moon.

Has to be first past the post.

  It's over in an instant,

and he can't see her for dust...!

  6. ...In The UK

  Written by an outsider

  ...Shopping sprees are the future...

  (when transfer window opens)

Use it or lose it, I say

  Intimate fans 'love' their team

  Away end don't leave early

  Part time supporters stay home

Think it's like watching paint dry

  Billion pound investment

  Body blow to United

  Manchester's two fearsome teams

  City... and City reserves...!

  7. Deconstructing

Doesn’t always pay to turn up early

Early birds are not rewarded with coins

Cons and pros don’t justify opinion

Open hearts and minds, the accepted norm

  Normal services resume one Sunday

Someday soon, if you’re all up to the task

Taxed to the hilt by the Inland Revenue

  Re venue; destruction undertaken

  Undertaker, last rites and cremation

  Creation, demolition take their toll

Toiling for a very modest income

Incomplete wage check, short a few nicker

Nicer times to come when we quit the game

Gaining when it ends… Perhaps it doesn’t...!

  8. Like Father Like Son

Share this with your Facebook friends:

A guy walks on down the street

Quick march; left, right, left, right, left

Things to do, places to go

  Master of all he surveys

A distant voice calls to him

"Have you got any spare change...?"

So feint, he hardly hears it

  He doesn't create a fuss

But his train of thought is rocked

"It's a bad day to die hard

So I'll stretch to twenty quid...

In other words... I love you..."

  9. Innocence Lost

  Hurry across

  forgotten country,

  jar memories

  that disguised the wound

  of yesterday;

  stirred a stubborn mind...

  conjured tree houses,

  beaches, sand castles...

  10. (elephant) Small Print

  Not exactly at your peak...?
<
br />   Lost the battle of the bulge...?

Shed weight FAST with... Rose Petals...!

Lose up to a stone a week...!

You will feel over the moon...!

  No powders, pills or potions

  That's our written guarantee!

The rod and the staff comfort

The chains and the locks feel good

  Even the pit feels homely

... after a session or two

*Calls cost nine pounds a minute*

  11. Thirty Pieces

  Internet headlines announce 'Thirty Pieces'

QWERTY releases from poets who blog

Log on to enter your daily instalments

All meant in fun, but it's old news to some

But old news like no news, is good news, we think

As we sink to our knees in search of our muse

  Abused and neglected, rejected, deserted

We flirted and hurt it, and left it behind

We find it's designed to frustrate as we wait

Hesitate at the gate, before entering in...

And that's when the unanswered questions begin...

  Like have we been duped...?

Is this how it was meant to be...?

Is this the scoop of the twenty first century...?

  Plenty verse entry...?

  Pages left empty...?

  Who's gonna tempt me...?

  We'll see...

  12. Never We

I come from a place known as history

  Exist in your subconscious memory

Where you remember me, just how I used to be

Where I will haunt you for now and eternity

You can believe it, you won't have to wait and see

I am the glitch in your brain's responses

Once is enough times to train you to switch

  Ditch the expression of disbelief

You are the thief who steals to impress

Yes, it's for real, or at least that's what you thought

Nobody taught you, so how could you know?

You never caught on, you were always too slow...

Everyone knows that you did it to me

Hid me from those who preferred not to see

Alone together, you and I... never we...

  13. Idle Hands

At times I may feel suicidal,

but my idle hands won't do the devil's work.

It's a jerk reaction and nothing more,

as I fall to the floor with my arms outstretched,

and the pain is etched into my face.

But for the grace of god there go I,

into the eye of the raging storm,

engaging the form, rejecting the norm,

never expecting the gifts I accept.

  With deepest respect and gratitude,

and an attitude that will never lessen,

I learn the lesson of my depression.

The passion that makes me feel suicidal

is soothed by the calm of my idle hands.

  14. Bang Bang

  Unkind as it seems

  my dreams

  involve a revolver

  and you

  bringing me into

  your view

  aiming and setting

  your sights

  right on the whites of

  my eyes

  calmly ignoring

  my cries

  pulling the trigger

  on me

  Go figure out how

  I'm free...

  15. Second Sight

Shouting out loud so my voice can be heard

and the crowd will hang on to my every word

from the absurd to the totally sublime

a captive audience time after time

who give me the attention I demand

in a way that helps you understand

that it's your chance to see into the future

view tomorrow's news today if it suits you

With an open mind you'll know the score

  but it's your... responsibility

  to explore this opportunity

that throws wide open its door to you

It's no snide token for the chosen few

It will flow into your consciousness

but you'll be none the less amazed to learn

of days you yearn to have the knowledge of

  College offers us no explanation

no degree of education prepares us

Our awareness of the future tense

at no expense to our sanity

will be heightened and our minds will be free

  16. One For The Inquisitive

If you ever got the urge

  to merge technology with faith

  would the outcome be delicious

or would it smudge your sinful soul?

  Activate the project quietly

sing a mantra to the unity

  and stellar intervention takes control

  17. Human Wrongs...

In a world where no news is good news

Two kinds of people join the debate

Those who wait for 'nothing' to happen

And those who cause those who wait, to wait

In the Red Corner, weighing in with:

  "Inequalities in our cultures

Hold us back, restricting our progress

While over in the Blue Corner, it's:

"In order to safeguard our futures

Some things must be part of the process"

  Two views: Sympathetic; Prejudiced

  Both are attitudes deeply rooted

  Unfairly treated? Persecuted?

  Race? Religion? Sexuality?

  Discriminated? Outlawed? Hated?

  Age? Behaviour? Disability/?

  Demographic classification?

  Royalist? Anarchist tendencies?

  Breeding and background? Education?

  Employment? Politics? Charities?

Another way of viewing it though

May not be to look at it at all

We'll get it covered up; ignore it...

This is not our problem anymore...

  18. Mercenary

  If

  I consider my position

  then

by definition I have a place

a dedicated space of my own

  a throne

  not to be abdicated

  but

  vacated by negotiation

  the only motivation

  money...

  19. Showtime

I hope you don't mind me coming so late,

but I wanted to wait until now

before showing you how it is done...

At this time when the sun doesn't shine

stands a line of a dozen witnesses.

Their business is to doubt or condemn,

but without them to view the event,

the time I've spent would have been wasted

and they could never have tasted my wares.

Although it scares those who volunteer,

I'll make it clear I appreciate

all supporters to date, for my victory.

  Particularly those amongst you

who once figured the subject taboo.

And for those who are still sceptical,

  the spectacle may astonish.

  Don't admonish, it isn't a sin;

  I'll begin without further ado...

  20. Probably

You're almost sure you don't deserve it

or maybe it serves your purposes

to store all your surplus modesty

under lock and key till you need it

But have you ever considered this...?

  It's almost a racing certainty

  that eternity lasts forever

so whatever you choose to believe

  you'll receive my eternal respect

  ...I'd expect...

  21. Defense Mechanism

  Hesitant, unsure of my n
ext move

  Gotta prove my skill, ability

Soon you will see that I'm capable

  Not culpable as you suspected

Though a new respect would be my reward

I don't wanna be adored, just rated

  Not consecrated, or celebrated

Not run the risk of being hated

So understand the gist, the direction

And why reflection is so crucial

  A blunt and brutal self-assessment

A testament to my own status

  In the creator's master plan

  No disaster can undermine me

  Flood and fire cannot intimidate

  Underestimate me at your peril

And where all this is leading to

If you're reading through all the bravado

The hard... no, the hardest thing to do

Is to drop my guard and make peace with you

  22. Top Dog

Here's how I justify my position

I'm on a mission to improve my lot

You've got to have what it takes to succeed

If indeed you wanna take what they've got

On the way up, I won't even look down

On those clowns who will frown on my methods

It's their F-words that tell me they're jealous

And them fellas repel all my efforts

So mark my words, I will have the last laugh

Those master craftsmen have nothing on me

I'm not bluffing, I know the direction

In connection with my own destiny

  23. Amendment

  Very often sceptical
